Location: Taunton

Salary: £25,759 - £37,956

​Length of Contract: Permanent with 6-month probationary period

An exciting opportunity to work with the newly-elected MP for Taunton and Wellington, Gideon Amos OBE and the Taunton and Wellington Liberal Democrats. You will ensure Gideon keeps in close contact with his constituents and T&W Lib Dems remain a formidable campaigning force.

​

Full time role, 55:45 split between Gideon Amos OBE MP and the Taunton and Wellington Liberal Democrats local party.

Responsibilities as Senior Executive Officer for Gideon Amos

​

Public engagement:

  • Assist with surgeries and other meetings

  • Engage professionally, confidentially, with care and integrity with members of the public

  • Take initial action on queries from members of the public

 

Constituency operations:

  • Assist constituents with casework

  • Ensure records are kept and information managed confidentially and in line with legislation

  • Liaise with Government agencies, voluntary sector and others

  • Manage projects

  • Research local, regional or national issues to support Gideon’s work

  • Develop knowledge in specialist areas

Responsibilities as for Taunton and Wellington Liberal Democrats

  • Plan and deliver campaigns to deliver election wins

  • Ensure all campaign activities are resourced, communicated and supported

  • Write copy and produce designs and artwork for newsletters

  • Liaise with local teams to ensure newsletters have relevant content

  • Organise the production of materials to plan and budget

  • Train and build volunteer capacity to achieve campaign objectives

  • Deliver initiatives to achieve fundraising targets

  • Ensure data is maintained and kept confidential, in line with legislation

  • Maintain party databases

  • Build and maintain volunteer delivery networks

  • Deliver copy, photography and artwork to support communications objectives

  • There may be requirement for the role holder to work outside of normal hours and travel for work occasionally

 

Skills required

  • Meticulous organisation and attention to detail

  • Patience, empathy and good verbal communication skills

  • Ability to work flexibly in a team

  • Excellent organisational skills, able to prioritise and meet strict deadlines

  • Excellent command of written and spoken English

  • Creative eye for good photos and graphics

  • Proficiency in digital communication tools, platforms and desktop publishing packages

  • Experience working with volunteers or large teams

  • Sympathy with the aims & values of the Liberal Democrats
